Overview

Swivi is an interactive desktop dashboard assistant that consolidates your frequently used applications into an all-in-one interface. The objective of this application is to improve users’ productivity and promote a more seamless workflow.

For the students and working individuals who tend to have a countless amount of tabs and applications open and routinely switch back and forth between them, Swivi tackles this problem by bringing the main features of their most used apps into a uniform, widget-based interface.

In January 2023, our team of three designers embarked on this project during the height of ChatGPT's popularity, marking a pivotal moment in the consumer AI industry. At that time, ChatGPT stood as one of the few widely recognized and accessible AI-based platforms in the public domain. Nevertheless, we were acutely aware of ongoing developments in this field. We transformed this awareness into a core concept, shaping it into a question that seamlessly integrated with our product.

How could AI break free from merely a text-based format and bring new and exciting use cases to the table?

Through user testing, market research, and continuous iteration, we were able to design a full prototype, including the branding, of an application we believed would add value to those with a computer-based workflow.

User Research: Survey

We conducted a survey using Google Forms to gather information about our users' general workflow and their preferences for AI components within our app. From the data we collected, we were able to identify common themes across our responses and use them as a guide to help us develop our app. Below are some of our key insights.

User Research: Personas

Based on the survey results, we created three personas that represented our target user groups, which we could use as references while designing the functionality of our platform.

User Research: Empathy Map

We also drafted an empathy map to solidify the challenges and frustrations that we aimed to overcome.

Design Process

Once our team developed a strong understanding of our target user, their pain points, and our objectives to solve them, we began the design process for our product.
